A Thai and Filipino blend from Duca di Salaparuta marrying molasses and cane juice at 41.5%, soft and toasty with banana, coconut, vanilla and roasted nuts, a rounded, easy going Italian bottled pour with a hint of anise.
Description
Duca di Salaparuta's Rump@blic Origins here turns to Southeast Asia, blending rum from Thailand and the Philippines around both molasses and cane juice. Bottled at 41.5% by the Sicilian house, it is an accessible, broad origin blend, and this edition shows noticeably better than some of its siblings in the range.
The profile is soft, round and toasty: the nose brings tropical fruit, banana, butter and roasted nuts, the palate stays buttery and toasted with coconut, vanilla and tropical fruit, and the finish carries roasted nuts, more tropical fruit and a touch of allspice with a hint of anise or liquorice. There is a pleasant, well rounded quality here, banana candy sweetness and a gentle spice balancing nicely. At 41.5% it drinks smoothly and sociably, an easy going, fruit and nut leaning blend that makes a likeable casual sipper.
