Don Q Double Cask Port is a port finished bottling from Destilería Serrallés, the Puerto Rican distillery laying a clear red wine influence over its molasses rum at an easy 40%. It is pitched at accessible, sweeter leaning sipping, with the port cask doing much of the talking.

The nose is fruity and wine like, red fruits and vanilla with fruits and nutmeg. The palate is dominated by the port cask, dark chocolate, raisin and red wine notes, before a finish that turns acidic, sour and faintly burnt. The port influence is clear and intense, giving the rum plenty of flavour, though that tart acidity and a touch of burnt character on the close divide opinion. It is an easy, gentle pour that will most appeal to port wine fans and drinkers who enjoy a chocolatey, fruit driven finished rum.
