Description
Domäne Wachau is a leading Austrian producer, and Fresco Frizzante is its easygoing semi-sparkling style, made from grapes grown across the region's vineyards on the valley floor. After gentle pressing and controlled fermentation, the base wines are blended and lightly carbonated to give a compact, lively mousse. This is a primary, tank-fresh wine built for immediate enjoyment rather than cellar development, with a carefully judged dosage keeping it charming and dry. The vineyards are farmed increasingly organically, worked without insecticides or herbicides and picked by hand.
The colour is a light yellow with a fine, compact mousse. The nose is fresh and fruity, with an easy orchard-fruit character. The palate is slender and lively, with animating acidity and a finely balanced bead running to a refreshing finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass, or simply over ice. It makes a summer aperitif and pairs with Serrano ham and melon, beef carpaccio, summer salads and light fish.
