Description
Domaine Lafage sits near Perpignan in Roussillon, a warm southern French region where Mediterranean and mountain influences meet. Côté Est is an organically farmed white blend built around Garnacha Blanca and Chardonnay, with a supporting cast of local white varieties. The region's heat and long growing season ripen the fruit fully, giving the wine its generous stone and orchard fruit character, while altitude and cooling breezes off the sea keep the acidity in balance. Garnacha Blanca brings weight and a subtle herbal edge, and Chardonnay adds breadth and a citrus lift. Vinified for freshness in tank, it keeps its primary fruit and floral aromatics without oak. The colour is pale gold, with a nose of white peach, melon and pear framed by white flowers. The palate is rounded and medium bodied, with ripe fruit carried by lemon fresh acidity into a clean, gently saline finish. It is approachable and versatile rather than heavy. Serve it at around 9 to 11 degrees in a white wine glass.
