Description
Domaine Faiveley is a century old Burgundy house with 127 hectares, one of the largest holdings in the region, based at Nuits-Saint-Georges. This Bourgogne Rouge is pure Pinot Noir drawn from plots across the Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune and Cote Chalonnaise, vinified in the domaine's cellar. Burgundy's limestone and clay soils and cool continental climate suit Pinot Noir, giving bright red fruit, fresh acidity and a savoury, earthy character, while the spread of sites lends balance across vintages. The wine ages 12 to 14 months in good quality French oak, where slow oxygen exchange rounds the tannins and adds gentle spice without masking the fruit. The 2023 shows a clear ruby colour and a nose of red cherry and berry fruit lifted by dried herbs and an earthy note. The palate is medium bodied, the tannins fine and the finish fresh and savoury. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, with a short decant. It suits roast poultry, duck and mushroom dishes.
