Domaine de Severin is a Guadeloupe agricole estate, and this Rhum Vieux carries a 1996 vintage, made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses and distilled on a column still in the island manner.
With long tropical ageing behind it, expect the agricole core showing real maturity, grassy and herbaceous beneath vanilla, baking spice, toasted oak and leather, dry and spice forward rather than sweet. Bottled at 45%, this is an aged Guadeloupe agricole made for slow, neat sipping rather than mixing.
