Description
Domaine Chantal Lescure is a nineteen-hectare family estate in Burgundy, founded in 1975 and farmed under certified organic agriculture since 2006. This wine comes from the Beaune appellation in the Cote d'Or, the heartland of red Burgundy, made from Pinot Noir. The vineyards lie on the gentle limestone and clay slopes of the Cote de Beaune, where a cool continental climate and well-drained calcareous soils give Pinot Noir its red fruit, fine tannin and bright acidity. The grape's thin skins reward gentle handling and a measured approach in the cellar. This 2021 was aged twelve months in neutral oak barrels, older wood chosen to add structure and let slow oxygen exchange soften the tannin while keeping the oak influence subtle so the fruit and terroir lead. The colour is bright ruby. The nose is fragrant and savoury, with red cherry, strawberry and red currant over an earthy, lightly spiced base. The palate is light to medium bodied and elegant, with fine tannin, fresh acidity and a long, mineral finish. At 14 percent it stays balanced and refined. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees with roast poultry, duck or mushroom dishes.
