Dobledeperez is the project of Jennifer Pérez and her siblings in Jumilla. La Jarana is a dry white from Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains, aromatic and floral on the nose but crisp and savoury on the palate after six months on its lees.
Description
Dobledeperez was founded by Jennifer Pérez Pérez and her siblings, working family owned vineyards in Albacete in the Jumilla region of south east Spain. La Jarana is made from Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains, the finest of the Muscat family, vinified dry rather than sweet. The vineyards sit on limestone rich soils at altitude on the inland Levante plateau, where the continental climate brings hot days and notably cool nights. That wide diurnal range is central to this wine, as the cool nights preserve the grape's delicate floral aromatics and natural acidity through a hot growing season. The wine is farmed naturally and aged for around six months on its fine lees, which adds a little texture and a savoury depth to balance the perfume, while there is no oak to mask the grape. Muscat gives an unusually aromatic nose for a dry white. The wine is pale straw and opens with white flowers, elderflower, white peach and rose, with a citrus lift. The palate is dry and fresh, a deliberate contrast to the sweet perfume of the nose, with bright acidity, a light savoury texture and a clean, faintly ginger tinged finish. Serve well chilled at 9 to 11 degrees. Its aromatics make it a good match for spiced dishes.
