Dobledeperez makes Inaudita from 100 percent Petit Verdot in D.O. Jumilla, a rare single-variety bottling. Barrel aged and naturally farmed, it is a deep, structured red of dark plum, balsamic spice and pepper.
Description
Inaudita is an unusual wine, 100 percent Petit Verdot, made by winemaker Jennifer Pérez at Dobledeperez in the D.O. Jumilla, in Murcia. Petit Verdot is a late-ripening, thick-skinned variety normally used in small proportions within blends, and the hot, sun-drenched Mediterranean climate of Jumilla, with its poor limestone soils, is one of the few places it ripens fully as a single variety. That full ripeness gives deep colour, firm tannin and concentrated dark fruit. The wine is farmed naturally and aged twelve months in oak barrels, where slow oxygen exchange softens the variety's robust tannins and adds structure and spice without burying the fruit. The colour is a deep violet with reddish nuances. The nose shows balsamic and herbal aromas alongside dark fruit, plum, pepper, liquorice and a touch of dark chocolate. The palate is full bodied and structured, with firm, ripe tannin and a long, savoury, spicy finish. This is a wine to decant and serve at 17 degrees. It suits grilled and roast red meats, lamb and dishes with depth and char.
