Distilia Enmore (Versailles) Greenheart Versailles MEV 1990

Distilia bottled this single cask 1990 Demerara under its Greenheart label, naming the Versailles wooden pot still directly and giving the rum 31 years of age. Versailles is one of the heritage greenheart stills run by DDL at Diamond, prized for a robust, tannic, raw-wood character that sits just below Port Mourant in intensity.

Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled unsweetened at 51.6% cask strength, it is dry, deeply woody and slow to give itself up. Pencil shavings, herbs and anise lead, with leather, roasted wood, coffee and a tea-like tannic edge behind, and just enough dried fruit to keep it balanced. Three decades have built genuine length without tipping into over-oaking. This is one for focused, patient sipping by drinkers who already love old Versailles.
