Dictador SEDUCTIVO 1994

Seductivo is a vintage Dictador from Destileria Colombiana, distilled from molasses on both pot and column stills and drawn from a 1994 vintage to twenty four years. Bottled without added sugar and using no solera trickery, it is a more honest and characterful Colombian rum than the house's sweeter reputation might suggest, with the pot still share lending extra depth.

The nose is fruity and warm with prune and licorice, then the palate turns to coffee, a distinct smokiness, wood and caramel, closing on a woody, smoky finish with chocolate and nuts. That partly peaty, smoky edge is unusual for the smooth Spanish style and gives the rum a slow building, layered personality. Dry, savoury and multi dimensional at 44.2%, it rewards patient sipping and suits drinkers who want a mature, unsweetened Colombian rum with genuine smoke and structure rather than easy sugar.
