A 16 year old Dictador from the 2006 vintage, deeply roasted with coffee, burnt notes and dark caramel layered over oak, a concentrated, bittersweet and espresso driven Colombian sipper that stays long and dark at 44%.
Description
Dictador Rima 1 2006 is a Colombian release from the 2006 vintage, drawing on sixteen years of ageing to deliver the dark, roast forward profile that defines the house. Dictador is among Colombia's best known names, built on coffee and cocoa rich rums shaped by warm tropical maturation.
Distilled on column stills and aged in Ex-Bourbon oak, it is heavily roasted in character: coffee, burnt notes and dark caramel on the nose, then coffee, roast and dark caramel again on the palate, with the same bittersweet roast carrying a long finish. There is real intensity here, leaning toward the espresso and toffee end of the spectrum. Colombian ron often carries dosage and the sugar status is undisclosed, so a degree of sweetness underpins the roast, balancing the bitterness into a rich, after dinner pour for lovers of dark, coffee driven rum.
