Rima 1 2000 is a vintage release from Dictador, a 2000 Colombian rum aged twenty-two years in ex-bourbon wood at Destileria Colombiana. Like its siblings in the range it is a column-distilled molasses spirit whose depth comes from sustained tropical maturation rather than a solera system.
The profile runs dark and rich throughout. The aroma is sweet and woody with coffee and clove, the palate oily and full with sweet, roasted, wood-forward tones, and the finish lingers with leather, raisin and more sweetness over oak. At 43% it is a weighty, after-dinner Colombian where coffee, dried fruit and spice meet a generous, oily texture. Whether the sweetness owes more to the years or to the house style, it reads as a smooth, indulgent old sipper for slow evenings.
