A 19 year old Colombian column rum aged in ex-bourbon, woody and savoury with leather, saddle and spice over caramel, a drier, more rugged Dictador at 40% than the brand’s sweet blends.
Description
Dictador Parrafo I Pardo is a Colombian ron vintaged 2003, drawn from ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40% within the distillery's vintage range. Column-distilled from molasses in the soft Spanish style, it shows a drier, more leather-and-wood character than the sweeter expressions the brand is known for.
The nose is straightforwardly woody, while the palate opens into spice, leather, a distinctly saddle-like note and caramel underneath. The effect is rugged and savoury rather than confection-sweet, an aged ron leaning on its oak rather than on dosage or fruit. At 40% it stays approachable and easy to sip despite that drier, more rustic character. As with the wider range, the stated vintage is best read as part of the story rather than a guarantee. A more characterful, less polished side of the brand for drinkers who appreciate leather and spice over smooth sweetness.
