Description
Parrafo I Borbon is a single-cask bottling from Dictador, drawn from a 1999 vintage and aged twenty-three years in ex-bourbon wood at Destileria Colombiana. As a vintage-dated single cask from a house otherwise built on solera blending, it leans fully on its time in American oak.
This is an emphatically wood-driven rum. The aroma is oak, barrel and damp staves lifted by a touch of chocolate, and the palate doubles down on that woody, barrel-forward character with little to distract from it. Long tropical maturation has drawn deep colour and a dry, oaky backbone. At 43% it is a sipper for those who relish the taste of the cask itself, an old Colombian single barrel that puts its years on full display rather than softening them under sweetness.
