Description
Dictador Ortodoxy comes from Destileria Colombiana in Cartagena, the home of Dictador rum, and it takes an unusual turn for a gin: ageing in used rum barrels. The botanical bill leans warm and tropical, juniper and coriander joined by ginger, pepper and fresh citrus. The cask time lends the spirit a mildness and depth, and a barely-there golden tint, while leaving its bright, fresh character intact.
The nose is intense and complex, juniper and fresh citrus over a subtle sweetness and a hint of spicy herbs. The palate is smooth and rich, juniper meeting pepper, ginger and sweet citrus and tropical fruit. The finish is long and elegant, gently spiced with a fine wood nuance from the barrel. Enjoy it neat to read the detail, or pour a Gin & Tonic with a twist of orange or grapefruit.
