Dictador Obra American Oak 2002

This Dictador Obra bottling is a single cask of Colombian rum distilled in 2002 and matured 21 years in American oak. It follows the house style of the solera-leaning Spanish tradition, built on a light molasses spirit that takes its colour and depth from long barrel ageing, here isolated to a single American-oak cask.

Two decades in oak give a round, oily texture and a sweet, dark-fruited profile, with roasted coffee and ripe fruit on the nose moving into caramel and chocolate on the palate. The finish stays sweet and woody, and that sweetness belongs to the Dictador signature rather than being purely oak-derived, so it reads rich and dessert-leaning rather than dry. At 43% it is soft and slow, a warm, after-dinner Colombian ron for drinkers who want age and an oily, chocolatey body.
