A twenty-year Colombian single cask from Dictador’s Libreto series, matured in American oak, honey and floral notes over walnut, with oaky spice and vanilla on a slightly watery palate at 43%.
Description
Dictador's Libreto American Oak is a 2002 vintage single cask, a twenty-year Colombian rum drawn from ex-bourbon American oak and bottled at 43%. It sits among the brand's older, more cask-forward expressions, showing the softer, sweeter Colombian profile alongside two decades of oak influence.
The nose is appealing and gentle, honey and floral notes over walnut and a soft sweetness. The palate brings oak, spice, vanilla and that walnut character, though it reads a touch watery for its age, the structure lighter than the years might promise. The finish carries spice, walnut and a sweet, oily close. This is a mellow, nutty sipper in the rounded Colombian mould rather than a powerful one, best suited to drinkers who enjoy a soft, honeyed style of aged rum with an oaky, slightly sweet character and are not chasing intensity from the strength.
