Dictador Best Of 1987

Dictador's Best Of line draws on long aged Colombian rum from Destilería Colombiana, molasses based and column distilled in the Spanish style where the cask carries the character. This 1987 single cask is a darker, woodier expression of the house, with the rich oak depth that decades of ageing bring.

The nose leads with chocolate, walnut, wood and vanilla, while the palate turns sweet and oily with woody, lightly smoky notes underneath. The finish stays sweet and oily, joined by dried fruit and more wood. As with most of the Dictador range these old rums tend toward the sweet side, and the sugar status here is undeclared, so the impression is rounded and rich rather than dry. At 43% it is a slow, mellow sipper for drinkers who enjoy the chocolate and oak character of very old Colombian ron.
