Dictador Best Of 1981

Dictador is one of Colombia's best known rum names, working in a solera leaning, coffee and cocoa accented style, and this Best Of release is a single cask carrying a 1981 vintage. Distilled from molasses on a column still and bottled at 46%, it leans into the darker, more roasted side of the Colombian profile rather than soft sweetness.

The nose offers vanilla, caramel and a fruity edge alongside a noticeable alcohol note, the palate turns to coffee, vanilla and barrel character, and the finish carries coffee, roasted almonds, nutty tones and a touch of smoke. It is a richer, more savoury Colombian, with the wood and roast leading. Added sugar is not disclosed, and the character drinks more oak and coffee driven than sugary. One reviewer rates the standard age stated Dictador expressions above it, but as a single cask vintage it offers a darker, nuttier take on the house style.
