Dictador Best of 1980

Dictador's Best Of releases showcase very old Colombian rum from Destilería Colombiana, molasses based and column distilled in the Spanish style where cask and time carry the flavour. This 1980 single cask is a deeply aged expression, rich with the oak character that nearly four decades in wood bring.

Wood, roasted notes, raisin and orange lead the nose, with that same combination of dried fruit and oak following onto the palate. The finish turns woody and sweet with caramel and dried fruit. As with the rest of the range these old Dictador rums lean to the sweet side, and the sugar status is undeclared, so the impression is rounded and dessert like rather than dry. At 41% it is a gentle, slow sipper, an orange and raisin driven take on very old Colombian ron for drinkers who favour the most aged bottlings in the house.
