A sweetened Colombian rum leaning hard into coffee, caramel and dark chocolate over toasted oak, soft and roasted at 40%, a gentle dessert of a sipper for cigar nights as long as the candied sweetness is welcome.

Description
Dictador 20 Years is a Colombian rum in the Spanish style, drawing on pot and column still distillate from molasses and bottled at 40%. The number on the label points to the older components in the blend rather than a flat age statement, and the style is firmly in the soft, roasted, coffee forward Colombian school alongside its neighbours.
This is a sweetened rum, and the dosage rounds it into something smooth and dessert leaning. The nose is intense and inviting with caramel, vanilla, toffee and freshly roasted coffee, while the palate doubles down on coffee, caramel, dark chocolate and toasted wood, finishing on roasted spice. It can read close to a coffee liqueur and is not built for complexity, so honesty serves it well, this is a gentle, sweet sipper. Enjoyed for what it is, neat or beside a cigar, its rich roasted character is easy to like.
