Dictador 2 Masters 1974/1977

Dictador's 2 Masters line pairs very old Colombian rum from Destilería Colombiana with guest cooperage input, drawing on molasses spirit in the Spanish style where decades in cask carry the flavour. This release marries 1974 and 1977 vintages into a single deeply aged rum, on the richer, more characterful end of the house.

Forty years of ex-bourbon ageing has produced a dark, layered spirit. Wood, smoke, strawberry and raisin open the nose, an unusually fruited and smoky combination, while the palate turns to wood, roasted notes, ginger and vanilla. These old Dictador rums generally lean sweet and well balanced, and the sugar status here is undeclared, so the impression is rounded rather than dry. At 42% it is a concentrated, contemplative pour, a smoky and fruit driven expression of very old Colombian ron for drinkers who seek out the house's most aged releases.
