A 42 year old Colombian column rum from a 1980 vintage, aged in ex-bourbon and deeply savoury, with roasted wood, leather, dried fruit and coffee over a nutty, orange-tinged finish at 44%.
Description
Dictador 2 Master (Parra & Lozano) 1980 is one of the older releases in the distillery's catalogue, a Colombian molasses ron vintaged 1980 and matured in ex-bourbon wood, bottled at 44%. The 2 Masters concept frames it as a showcase pour, named for the master blenders behind it.
Four decades of oak push it firmly toward roasted, savoury territory. The nose carries roasted notes, wood, dried fruit and leather, the palate turns oily, roasted, woody and nutty, and the finish lingers on roast, coffee, orange and more wood. This is a dark, mature, dry-leaning style rather than a sweet sipper, dense with the kind of toasted, leathery depth that long ageing brings. As ever with the brand, the vintage is best enjoyed as flavour in the glass rather than treated as a precise age guarantee.
