A 49 year old Colombian ron from Dictador distilled in 1977, column-distilled from molasses and aged in ex-bourbon oak, one of the oldest expressions the house has released, bottled at 44%.
Description
Dictador 2 Master 1977 is an extraordinarily old Colombian rum from Destileria Colombiana, carrying a stated forty-nine years. Rum aged this long is a genuine rarity, and bottlings at this age are sought after by collectors.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 44%, it should show profound oak depth, vanilla and the coffee and cocoa character that runs through the Dictador house, all concentrated by almost half a century in barrel. Expect layered dried fruit and a long, resinous feel rather than sharpness. Added sugar is not disclosed; at this age the richness is overwhelmingly barrel-derived. A pour for the most patient of sipping occasions.
