Description
Another Diamond Savalle single cask from the Rumclub Private Selection by Spirit of Rum, this one bottled at a full 65%. The Savalle column usually gives the cleanest, most approachable Guyana profile, yet this 2008 MDS marque sits firmly at the dark, roasted end after fifteen years in oak.
Matured in ex-bourbon barrels and left unsweetened, it pours dense with treacle, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and wood, finishing roasted and warm with burnt sugar and mocha. At this strength it needs time and air to unfold, and once it does it delivers heavy, full bodied Demerara character with a long finish. A powerful modern Diamond that offers a lot of intensity at a fair price.
