Description
A Diamond VSG single cask from Germany's Rum Artesanal, recreating the Versailles single-wooden-pot-still marque on the surviving Diamond stills. Distilled in 2004 and aged over sixteen years, it carries the robust, tannic, raw wood character that sits between Enmore and Port Mourant.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 58.2%, it leans dry and dark, with oak, licorice, roasted notes and dried red fruit, finishing bitter, woody and faintly salty. Citrus and brown sugar flicker on the nose before the timber takes over. This is a serious, wood forward Demerara that pushes the bitter-sweet side hard and opens up best after long air in the glass, made for patient drinkers who like their Guyana rum uncompromising.
