Wet wood, licorice, mint, tobacco, dark chocolate and dried fruit, a 16 year El Dorado Rare Collection blend of Port Mourant and Diamond at 54.3%, dark and layered with extra roundness from the tropical Diamond.
Description
From El Dorado's Rare Collection, this is an official Demerara Distillers bottling pairing the Port Mourant double wooden pot still with the Diamond Savalle column. Distilled in 2001 and aged sixteen years, it blends the heaviest Guyana profile with the lightest for a fuller, more rounded whole.
Port-cask matured and bottled at 54.3%, it shows wet wood, licorice, mint, tobacco, dark chocolate, caramel and dried fruit. The PM leads with its oily, anise driven weight while the tropically aged Diamond adds roundness and a touch of sweetness that smooths the dry, brooding edges. The two halves fit together well, giving power and depth alongside better balance than PM alone often manages. A highly enjoyable neat sipper for those who like dark, layered Demerara.
