A seven-year Cuban ron from Destileria Heriberto Duquesne under the Vacilon label, light and gentle at 40%, with woody, candied and honeyed aromas leading into a nutty, faintly spirity palate, an easy ron ligero made for casual sipping and mixing.
Description
Vacilon comes from Cuba's Destileria Heriberto Duquesne, and Cuba is the home of the light ron ligero, column-distilled and charcoal-filtered for a clean, mellow profile. At seven years this is a straightforward aged Cuban built for approachable, everyday drinking rather than deep study.
The make is column-distilled molasses spirit matured in ex-bourbon wood, true to the lighter Cuban template. Woody, candied and honeyed notes open the nose, the palate is woody and nutty with a touch of alcohol showing through, and the finish stays warm and spirity. At 40% it is light and gentle. Framed honestly, this is an unassuming, mixer-friendly Cuban that does the job in a cocktail and sips easily enough, without pretending to be a deep or structured sipper.
