Description
Del Professore Gin À La Madame is made by the Antica Distilleria Quaglia in Piedmont, and it breaks from the London Dry rulebook in a telling way. Rather than distilling all the botanicals together, the house macerates herbs, spices and flowers after distillation in an elaborate cold-compounding process, a method that lends the gin its darker, faintly golden colour and an exceptional depth of flavour. The 2022 release arrives at 42.9% in a smart gift box.
The nose is intense and floral, juniper and citrus laced with violet and warm cinnamon and cardamom. The palate is full-bodied and spicy, fresh herbs meeting orange peel, vanilla and a hint of coriander. The finish is long, elegant and gently sweet, with a lingering floral-spiced note. Pour it into a G&T with a floral tonic and a twist of lemon, or stir it into a Martinez.
