Del Maguey VIDA Puebla Mezcal

Del Maguey VIDA Puebla is the Puebla bottling in Del Maguey's three part VIDA range, sometimes called the little brother of the Clasico. It is made at a modern palenque in Axocopan, at the foot of the Popocatépetl volcano, and first appeared in 2023, an Espadín mezcal carrying a slightly lower 40% than its sibling.
Mature Puebla agave is roasted underground, which is where the smoke comes from, then naturally fermented in surroundings rich in volcanic minerals and distilled in small copper stills. Against the Clasico it shows less smoke and more fruit, with tropical notes and a soft floral edge over the cooked agave base. The lower proof and lighter roast make it the gentler, more approachable of the two, easy to sip and forgiving in a glass.
