A Deanston, a distillery bottling, at 52.5%. Deanston is a Highland single malt distilled in a converted cotton mill on the River Teith near Doune. Deanston is the only distillery in Scotland to generate all its own power from the river.

It was distilled from unpeated Scottish barley in bulbous copper stills, giving the soft, malty Highland spirit. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. Without an age statement, vanillin sweetness and a honeyed malt point to good years in oak. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple and honey deepening over the wax. Its old weaving shed, once full of looms, is now a cool stone warehouse for the casks. A gentle maturation suits the soft make, the honey and wax growing richer with time. Its flagship is the 12 year old, bottled unchillfiltered at 46.3%. Its wash is fermented long, for a fruity, estery character.

At a natural 52.5% it is full and waxy. Apple, pear and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and honey sit behind the cask. The finish runs long, fruity and warming. This is a fruity, unchillfiltered Highland single malt.
