Description
De León Blanco is a 100 percent agave tequila made from highland Blue Weber agave drawn from the red soils of Los Altos in Jalisco. DeLeón, owned in partnership with Diageo, leans hard into its glossy, custom perfume-glass bottle, so it is fair to read this as a polished commercial blanco that sells on presentation as much as on the spirit inside.
The making is straightforward. The tequila reaches its flavour in only two distillations, an approach the producer says preserves the character picked up during fermentation, with the distiller cutting away the head and tail of the run so only the heart reaches the bottle. The result is a smooth, subtle profile led by fresh citrus and a crisp agave aroma, opening into coconut and a hint of fresh lime. Bottled at 40 percent, it sits comfortably as a highland-style sipping or mixing blanco.
