DDL El Dorado 15

DDL El Dorado 15 is a Guyanese rum from Demerara Distillers, the sole surviving producer that houses Guyana's famous heritage stills, the wooden pot and wooden Coffey stills found nowhere else on earth. ED15 is a blend drawn across several of these stills, with the age statement marking the youngest rum in the vatting, and bottled at 43%.

The Demerara signature is dark and rich, brown sugar, molasses, caramel and dried fruit with gentle oak, and that shows here in a deep, sweet profile of caramel, vanilla and soft spice. Honesty matters with this one, El Dorado is a textbook sweetened rum and the rounded, dessert leaning softness owes as much to the dosage as to the stills, though figures depend on bottling date. Taken as the smooth, sweet sipper it is, it makes an accessible and approachable way into the Demerara style for newer drinkers, best enjoyed neat or over ice.
