A cask-strength young Bielle from Marie-Galante selected by David’s Rum Selection, fresh sugar cane and agricole snap meeting pine resin, demerara sweetness and a waxy texture, bottled at a fierce 65.5%.
Description
A Bielle Sauvage bottled by David's Rum Selection, drawing on Bielle, the Marie-Galante distillery known for cane experiments and high-proof blancs. This is a young agricole, two years old, distilled from fresh-pressed cane juice, given a short rest in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at full cask strength of 65.5%.
At this proof the spirit's raw energy is front and centre. The nose is loaded with pine wood and wood spice, strong and resinous, demanding a slow approach. The palate is waxy and oily with demerara sugar and caramel sweetness joining fresh sugar cane, and the finish turns warm and agricole with a juniper-like lift and a drying edge. The brief ageing has added wood without taming the cane, so it stays fresh, fierce and characterful. Added sugar is not declared and the sweet impression reads as cask and spirit. A bold, high-octane Marie-Galante for drinkers who like their agricole young and powerful.
