Description
Bodega Davide traces back to 1902, when it was founded in the Rias Baixas by Jose Acha, and it is now run by his grandson David Acha, the third generation. This is its straight Albarino, a youthful and aromatic Galician white. The region's Atlantic climate brings cool temperatures and high rainfall, and the sea breezes hold acidity firm, while the granite and sandy soils give the wine a mineral, saline character. It is aged for nine months on its lees in stainless steel tanks and rests a further two months in bottle before release. Stainless steel keeps the fruit primary and the wine fresh, while the months on the lees add a fine texture and savoury weight that lift it beyond a simple young white. The bottle age lets the aromatics settle and integrate. It pours a bright pale straw, with lemon, green apple and citrus peel on the nose over a floral top note. The palate is crisp and direct, with pear and a saline mineral streak carrying a clean, lively finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It is built for the shellfish and seafood of its home coast.
