David and Nadia make Plat’Bos from a single Chenin Blanc vineyard in Swartland. The freshest of their sites, farmed on schist and barrel-aged, it is bright and mineral, with lime blossom, green apple and a citrus, saline cut.

Description
David and Nadia Sadie farm in Swartland, in South Africa's Coastal Region, where they make a range of single-vineyard Chenin Blancs from old dry-farmed bush vines. Plat'Bos is the leanest and most citrus-driven of the set, drawn from a cooler, higher site on decomposed schist and granite. The poor, stony, free-draining soils give the wine its mineral cut and salinity, while the elevation and cool Atlantic influence hold a bright, high acidity and a lower ripeness, here just 12 per cent alcohol. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged in barrel, largely older oak, so the wood adds subtle texture through lees contact without covering the fruit or acidity. The colour is pale lemon with green glints. The nose is fresh and precise, with citrus blossom, lime, green apple and white flowers over a stony minerality. The palate is dry and taut, the crisp citrus and orchard fruit framed by a saline, chalky line and a long, clean finish. Serve well chilled at 10 to 11 degrees.
