Description
David & Nadia Chenin Blanc comes from the Swartland in South Africa's Coastal Region, made by a young winemaking couple who are part of the Swartland Independent producers group and its focus on old vines and low-intervention farming. Chenin Blanc is the Cape's signature white, and the Swartland's warm, dry climate and granite and schist soils give old-vine fruit real concentration and a firm acid backbone. The wine is aged in barrel rather than steel, a choice that adds texture and a light savoury note while the older wood keeps overt oak flavour in check and lets the fruit lead. Farming here is sustainable, worked with respect for the land. The colour is a bright pale gold. The nose shows green apple and peach with a subtle hint of pineapple and almond. The palate is fresh and pure, medium in weight, with the barrel ageing lending a rounder texture over lively acidity through a long, dry finish. Serve chilled at 10 to 12 degrees.

Additional information
A good match for roast chicken, pork loin and baked white fish. The rounder, barrel-aged texture also stands up to roasted root vegetables and squash, and the fresh acidity keeps everything balanced.
