Damoiseau VSOP

Damoiseau is the largest distillery on Guadeloupe and a major export name, working from fresh pressed cane juice on a column still. This VSOP is a four year aged agricole, a softer, fruit led expression that leans gentle rather than grassy and vegetal, bottled at an easy 42%.

The nose is sweet and fruity over sugarcane with a spicy edge, the palate spicy and citrus tinged with cane character coming through, the finish carrying honey, light smoke and a cigar note over sugarcane. Ex bourbon ageing rounds out the young spirit and lends a honeyed softness, the cane juice signature still present beneath the fruit. Approachable and versatile, it drinks well neat for those easing in from molasses rums, and works equally in a Ti Punch or longer cocktail without overwhelming intensity.
