A sweet cane-based rum cream from Guadeloupe, pouring soft and dessert-like with cocoa, caramelised sugar and a creamy body, an easy chilled sipper at a gentle 18% that drinks more like a liqueur than a rum.
Description
Damoiseau is the largest distillery in Guadeloupe and a major export name, and this Creme au Rhum is its rum cream rather than a straight agricole, a sweetened, low-strength liqueur built on the house cane-juice spirit and meant for the dessert end of the evening.
At 18% it is soft and rounded, with cocoa and caramelised sugar on the nose and a creamy, sweet palate carrying more cocoa and a touch of underlying sugarcane. The finish stays sweet and creamy. This is unapologetically a sweet pour, best served cold and on its own, and drinkers report it goes down so easily that an open bottle does not last long. Treat it as an indulgent after-dinner glass, not a dry sipping rum.
