Damoiseau 2007

Damoiseau is the largest distillery in Guadeloupe and a major export name, working from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice under the island's IGP. This 2007 vintage carries a ten year age statement and is distilled on a column still in the agricole tradition.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 42%, it shows the softer, more floral side of aged agricole. The nose offers pear, rose and a woody, spiced edge, while the palate brings vanilla, light wood and gentle spice before a vegetal, peppery finish. This is an easygoing, lower-intensity vieux rather than a powerhouse, the green cane backbone softened by a decade of tropical rest. It suits drinkers who enjoy relaxed, floral and woody agricoles and are happy to trade big power and length for a gentle, sippable profile best enjoyed neat after a meal.
