Description
An 8 year old Dalmunach from the independent Caskhound, distilled in 2015, from cask 190, bottled at 58.6%, one of 236 bottles. Dalmunach is a fruity, light Speyside malt, its spirit largely destined for the Chivas Regal blend. Sixteen stainless washbacks feed four wash and four spirit stills.
Drawn off four wash and four spirit stills in their circular cluster, for a bright, modern Speyside spirit. A bourbon barrel held it, vanilla and a soft citrus over the fruity malt. These early years are extractive, the oak surrendering vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut to a fresh, fruity make. The clean spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Single malt Dalmunach is scarce, the spirit being a blend component first and foremost. Water comes from the Balintomb Burn, near the River Spey at Carron. The clean, fruity make is a model of the modern Speyside style.
Bottled at a cask strength 58.6%, it is rich. A light, clean fruitiness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run apple, pear and a soft honey. The finish runs clean, fruity and bright. This is Dalmunach, a new Speyside name on the Spey.
