Description
A 6 year old Dalmunach from the bottler Campbeltown Whisky Company Ltd, distilled in 2016, bottled at 57.1%, one of 456 bottles. Dalmunach is a clean, fruity Speyside single malt of the new generation. The light, fruity spirit is made chiefly for the Chivas Regal blends.
Worked through the distillery's eight stills for a fruity, light spirit, for a light, fruity make of real freshness. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the clean spirit. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the young spirit fresh, clean and fruity. The clean spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. The fresh, fruity make is a model of the new Speyside style. Years in oak round the young spirit, the fruit deepening to honey and orchard fruit. It was built in 2014 and opened in 2015 by Chivas Brothers, on the site of the demolished Imperial distillery.
At a hearty 57.1% it carries real weight. Apple, pear and a soft honey, with a dry, nutty, almond edge from the cask. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. The finish runs clean, fruity and bright. This is a young, fresh Speyside single malt.
