Description
This Dalmunach was bottled by the German bottler Best Dram, a 6 year old, distilled in 2016, bottled at 58.4%, one of 312 bottles. Dalmunach is a young Speyside single malt, fresh and fruity, rarely bottled on its own. Single malt Dalmunach is scarce, the spirit being a blend component first and foremost.
It was worked through the distillery's eight stills for a fruity, light spirit, for the light, fruity make Dalmunach is known for. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. Bottled young and extractive, the oak gives quick vanillin (vanilla) and oak lactones (coconut) over a lively, fruity malt. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruity malt. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light, fresh spirit. The clean, fruity make is a model of the modern Speyside style.
At a hearty 58.4% it carries real weight. Green apple, citrus and a soft vanilla, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. It is fresh and fruity, the young spirit shining through. The finish runs clean, fruity and bright. This is Dalmunach, a new Speyside name on the Spey.
