Dalmore The Trio

This official Dalmore, at 40%. Dalmore is a rich, chocolate and orange Highland single malt, deeply marked by sherry wood. It is owned by Whyte and Mackay, and its King Alexander III bottling nods to the clan legend.

The spirit was made in copper stills whose water jackets give a heavy make, giving the thick, oily spirit that drinks sherry so well. Maturation in an Oloroso butt laid dried fruit, treacle and dark chocolate over the oily malt. No age is given, but vanillin vanilla and a rich, sherried malt are well integrated. The full bodied make rewards a long, sherried maturation in good wood. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the rich malt. Most expressions are finished in aged sherry wood, giving orange, chocolate and treacle. Its flat topped wash stills and water jacketed spirit stills build a thick, rich, oily spirit.

At 40% it is smooth and honeyed. Orange, dark chocolate and dried fruit, with dried fruit, chocolate and orange from the cask. Beneath it run orange, dark chocolate and dried fruit. The finish is long, rich and chocolatey. This is a rich, full bodied Highland single malt.
