Dalmore Port Wood Reserve

This official Dalmore, at 46.5%. Dalmore is a rich, marmalade and dark chocolate Highland single malt of real opulence. Much of its sherry comes from aged Oloroso casks, the Matusalem, Apostoles and Amoroso butts of Gonzalez Byass.

It was worked through flat topped and water jacketed stills for a rich, oily spirit, for the rich, full bodied make Dalmore is known for. A wine cask finish layered dark fruit over the rich, sherried malt. Carrying no age, soft vanillin (vanilla) and a dried fruit richness suggest a fair spell in cask. The full bodied make rewards a long, sherried maturation in good wood. The water jacketed stills give a heavy spirit that soaks up sherry over a long maturation. An aged Oloroso cask suits the rich spirit, dried fruit and chocolate meeting the oily weight. The rich, dried fruit style runs through the core range, from the twelve year old upward.

Bottled at 46.5%, it is rounded. Dried fruit, orange and a treacly malt, with plum, chocolate and red berry from the cask. It is full and rich, the opulent spirit shining through. The finish runs rich, fruity and warm. This is Dalmore, rich with orange and dark chocolate.
