Description
This official Dalmore, at 43%. Dalmore is the Highland malt of the Royal Stag, rich with orange, chocolate and sherry. It is owned by Whyte and Mackay, and its King Alexander III bottling nods to the clan legend.
Worked through flat topped and water jacketed stills for a rich, oily spirit, for a heavy, rich make that suits aged sherry wood. An aged Oloroso cask wrapped the rich spirit in dried fruit, chocolate and orange, the Dalmore signature. Without an age statement, vanillin sweetness and a chocolate orange depth point to good years in oak. The thick spirit shows the sherry clearly, dried fruit and orange over a malty depth. The rich, dried fruit style runs through the core range, from the twelve year old upward. Refill oak lets the full bodied Dalmore character lead, orange and dried fruit beneath. Water comes from the River Averon, drawn from Loch Morie in the hills above.
At 43% it is gentle, sweet and fruity. A full, dried fruit richness, with dried fruit, chocolate and orange from the cask. Beneath it run orange, dark chocolate and dried fruit. The finish runs rich, fruity and warm. This is a rich, full bodied Highland single malt.
