This official Dalmore, at 44%, 1000 bottles in all. Dalmore sits above the Cromarty Firth, its water jacketed stills building a thick, oily spirit. The Dalmore range climbs to some of the oldest and most expensive whiskies in the world.

The spirit was distilled for the thick, full bodied spirit Dalmore is known for, for a heavy, rich make that suits aged sherry wood. A Madeira cask added raisin, orange and a caramelised nuttiness. No age is given, but vanillin vanilla and a rich, sherried malt are well integrated. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the rich malt. It is owned by Whyte and Mackay, and its King Alexander III bottling nods to the clan legend. Its spirit stills wear cooling water jackets, condensing the heavier compounds back for a fuller body. Its flat topped wash stills and water jacketed spirit stills build a thick, rich, oily spirit.

At 44% it is gentle, sweet and fruity. Marmalade, chocolate and a malty depth, with plum and red berry from the cask. Soft orange and a treacly malt sit behind the cask. The finish is long, rich and chocolatey. This is a sherried Highland single malt of real depth.
