From the bottler Sirius Whisky Purveyors, a 44 year old Dalmore, distilled in 1967, from cask 2055, bottled at 64.3%, one of 89 bottles. Dalmore sits above the Cromarty Firth, its water jacketed stills building a thick, oily spirit. The distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson on the Cromarty Firth at Alness.

It was worked through flat topped and water jacketed stills for a rich, oily spirit, to build a rich, sherry loving character. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, vanilla and a soft orange behind the rich spirit. In its ethereal years the malt is deep and oxidative, faded esters and a touch of sotolon (maple, spice). The rich, oily spirit takes cask flavour superbly, especially aged sherry wood. The distillery stands on the firth near Alness, in the Northern Highlands. The Royal Stag style is built on rich spirit and deep sherry wood.

Bottled at a cask strength 64.3%, it is rich. Marmalade, chocolate and a malty depth, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A dried fruit and a chocolate depth give it weight. The finish runs rich, fruity and warm. This is Dalmore, rich with orange and dark chocolate.
