Description
An official release of Dalmore, a 30 year old, at 43.2%, 1296 bottles in all. Dalmore is a Whyte and Mackay distillery known for its opulent, dried fruit rich style. Most expressions are finished in aged sherry wood, giving orange, chocolate and treacle.
Run through the distillery's unusual flat topped and water jacketed stills, for the rich, full bodied make Dalmore is known for. A Tawny Port cask laid plum, chocolate and red berry over the rich spirit. Ethereal and old, decades draw the malt to a rich, waxy depth of sotolon, old oak and dried fruit. The cool Highland air on the firth gives a slow, even maturation. The distillery stands on the firth near Alness, in the Northern Highlands. The Royal Stag style is built on rich spirit and deep sherry wood. The distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson on the Cromarty Firth at Alness.
Bottled at 43.2%, it is rounded. Dried fruit, orange and a treacly malt, with plum, chocolate and red berry from the cask. Beneath it run orange, dark chocolate and dried fruit. The finish is deep, sherried and dark. This is the Royal Stag malt of the Cromarty Firth.
